The JKS World Karate Championships - 24th & 25th September 2011 is open to all JKS member federations

The JKS International seminar - 23rd September is open to all karate students regardless of style of affiliation.

Examinations etc are for JKS members only.

The SKGB Refereeing Commission will be holding a Refereeing Officials Course on Saturday 12th March 2011.

Venue: Moorings Hotel, Motherwell

Course content:

  • Existing rules Version 6 discussion / clarification
  • Revision of WKF question papes Kata and Kumite
  • General discussion
  • Theory examination Kata & Kumite for those who require to resit.

Elite Athlete Support Seminar

Squad training is open to all SKGB members aged 12 year and above. The training times are 11am to 12.30pm and 11am to 1pm for elite squad members ( elite squad explained below).

Please note that under the new selection system those that do not attend team pool training sessions cannot be included in the elite squad and in future all selections will be made from those in the elite squad. It is therefore important for anyone wishing  to be included in the elite group in the future to attened team pool training sessions regularly. It is also important to keep an up to date note of your results from major championships

And any open events at home or abroad. The coaches will alsokeep arecord of elite squad members results and that will be used for selection purposes.

Please note how important it is to attended squad training. An example of the importance was evident at the selections for the forthcoming  European Juniors. Two apploicants who put their applications forward for consideration, had good competition results as required, but had not attended squad training and could not be considered for inclusion in the squad.

Criteria for selection (To represernt Scotland at major events)

1. Attendance at squad training

2. Results from the major events mentioned above.

Athletes can be added to the elite squad at any time if the coaches feel they have achieved the criteria necessary
