Mandatory BKF/SKGB Tatami Coach Accreditation

The SKGB will be running a Tatami Coach Accreditation course as per the details provided below.

Following a BKF Refereeing Commission meeting last year it was decided that anyone wishing to coach at the tatami during a BKF event would have to have this accreditation to prove they were aware of the required rules, responsibilities and expected conduct. Without this accreditation a coach pass will not be issued by the event organiser.

This standard is already enforced in England and Wales and Scotland are now following suit. An SKGB Tatami Coach  accreditation will be acceptable to the BKF for this purpose.

If you do not want to be sitting in the spectators area during the upcoming BKF events then please ensure your Kata and Kumite Coaches are booked on this course. The course will also have a short Kumite/Kata theory test requirement.

Statement from the  Referees Commission

Following a decision by the Board of Directors, would all Refereeing/Judging officials please note that it is now compulsory to have current PI insurance and a current ESCRO check in place to officiate at any SKGB event with immediate effect. Any official who turns up on the day and who does not hold both of these items will be unable to officiate and will be restricted to table duties.

Rab McQueen
