It was founded on 6th February 2016 by Shihan Graham McCann (6th Dan), Chief Instructor of the Kugatsu Karate-Do, and Sensei Angus Rutherford (4th Dan), Chief Instructor of the Edinburgh Karate Academy. Our aim is to promote and develop Shukokai Karate-Do across Scotland and abroad. We provide a range of activities including the teaching of traditional Shukokai Karate-Do, competition (Sport) karate and refereeing / judging at approved events. We are fully constituted and operate as a non-profit making organisation. KKD Shukokai are full members of the Scottish Karate Governing Body and are affiliated to the British Karate Federation, the European Karate Federation and the World Karate Federation. The SKF was founded on Thursday 17th December 1970, by nine karate students, three of whom are still active members of the SKF, Hamish Adam 8th Dan, Colin Clapperton 7th Dan and Allan Spence 6th Dan. It was originally called ‘Wado-Ryu Karate Committee’ (Scotland).
Today the SKF is the largest and most successful karate association in Scotland. We are members of the Scottish Karate Governing Body, the only recognised Governing Body for Karate in Scotland.
